- Measure every railing, window frame or edge you want to light, in metres.
- Add about 10% for corners, drops and reaching the nearest socket.
- Round up to the next pack size – 10 m for most rope and string lights, 25 m or 50 m for Sparkle Neu.
Example
A 4 m balcony railing with two 1 m sides = 6 m. Add 10% = 6.6 m. One 10 m rope light covers it, with enough left to drop down a corner.
3. Diwali lighting safety checklist
- Use outdoor-rated lights (like the IP65 Sparkle Neu) anywhere rain, dew or splashes can reach.
- Don't chain too many light sets on one extension board – spread them across sockets.
- Keep lights away from curtains, paper lanterns and diyas.
- Use a proper 3-pin plug and socket, never bare wires pushed into a socket.
- Switch lights off when you leave home or go to sleep.
- If a plug or wire feels hot, switch off and replace it.

Measure the railing and sides, add about 10%, and round up to the next pack size. A typical 4–6 m balcony needs one 10 m rope light.
